Wow! Four weeks until Christmas! In four weeks, it'll be over. :(
I've been getting packages left and right. The UPS man just rang my doorbell delivering yet another box. I believe this one is from the Gap and contains...Jared's snowpants! They finally got snowpants in so I snapped them up - NOT on sale. Grr. At least I had a coupon and got free shipping!
Jared's first night in Level III swimming was awesome. He looked so LITTLE swimming back and forth across the whole length of the pool! And he jumped from the diving board into the deep water and swam to the side - with NO lifejacket! First time ever! Holy cow.
Tonight he'll receive his Bobcat badge at the Pack meeting. He turned in a big Timeline project in school yesterday, and he has spelling tests every week. It's amazing to me how he's grown to this little person all of a sudden - he has friends (that he calls!), his own little social "group" at school, activities, etc. He's almost six-and-a-half....
Speaking of activities...I need to get that boy some indoor soccer shoes before the games start in 2 weeks.

Turkey Day Is Coming
Two more days until Turkey Day!
The boys don't have school tomorrow, so we begin a 5-day weekend and it's MUCH needed. I'm finishing up my last changes to the scripts for the Medi-Medi and then I'm DONE with this project/client for a while! Woo Hoo!
The only downside is no pool for five days - I'm having trouble accepting that I'm looking at five days in a row on the treadmill. Boring!
Tonight is my 2nd and last den meeting to "host" - I've got the blocks ready, the decorating supplies packed, the oatmeal container and beans and construction paper.... Oh, and the donut hole snacks - dip a donut hole in melted chocolate, roll the chocolate in crushed heath bars (or baking bits), and stick a 1/2 a pretzel stick in the top and you have...ACORNS! Adorable.
Jared decided last night that he does want to play indoor soccer, so we're all signed up for that. A bunch of the kids from his outdoor team are playing and some kids from school, so it should be a blast. Tammy, my Cub Scout co-leader (who am I kidding, she's the leader!), is doing the t-shirts for the team. They already have black shorts, so the uniforms are good to go.
I've put a decent dent in my Christmas shopping and am pretty much done for my boys and Jordan & Taylor. The kids are so easy to shop for. I just got lists from Jack & Skylar, so I'll see what they need/want and then I'll be about half done! Now I just need to find the two packages from Kohl's and the one from Toys R Us that UPS said they delivered yesterday that are nowhere to be found - grrrr. I think I'll check with the neighbors across the street.
We're celebrating Turkey Day in Romeo this year. I'm in charge of Cinnamon Red Jello and bread for sandwiches. I also plan to make baked macaroni & cheese - maybe then my kids'll eat something other than bread!

Tis the Season
Already time for holiday shopping? I've seen Christmas trees in Macy's since...gosh...September?! Really early this year. But I suppose that now, in mid-November, it's time to think about shopping. I've been asked for my Wish List numerous times, so I posted it here. Also the kids have wish lists on Amazon if you click the buttons. :)
I shopped for the kids a bunch this week. Jared wants that Darth Vader Death Star Transformer, and I fear it'll be a hot Black Friday item. So I ordered that when I ordered Owen's Playmobil stuff from Toys R Us. I bought way too much, but I figure I'll be able to hand off some of it to those shopping for my kids who don't have internet access.
It's been a busy week! I ran my first Cub Scout meeting on Tuesday. I raced around earlier that day going to the hardware store (twice), the lumber yard, Rite Aid, and Busch's. I bought all of the essentials for the Den Totem Pole, Indian headbands, and snacks (Pilgrim cookie hats). The meeting went well - busy and a tad longer than our one hour - but the boys seemed to enjoy sanding and painting their blocks. We'll decorate them next Tuesday and display the Totem Pole at our Pack meeting at the end of the month.
Last night, Wednesday, Jared had his final swim lesson of the Fall session - and he advanced to Level III! Woo Hoo! Now I need to call and try to change his enrollment for the Late Fall session to the new class.
I swam every morning this week, too! If I get there by 5:50 am, then I can avoid the Water Aerobics gang who arrives at 6:30. They have trouble staying in their own space, and their music is REALLY annoying!
Next week is Thanksgiving already - I'd better decide what I'm making - I think my assignment is jello and bread for sandwiches. Off to find Red Hots for the jello!

Winter Coats and Hats?!
The boys wore their full winter gear today. Both were in winter coats, hats, and mittens. (No snow pants yet, thank goodness!) And their "new winter boots that aren't boots" as Owen says. They both got new Keens for this winter and man, are they adorable!!! I should've taken a picture of them in their winter gear b/c they both looked so dang cute all bundled up.
Owen has Thursday and Friday off this week for parent-teacher conferences. I can't WAIT to hear what Miss. Donna has to say about our little Oobi. Marla and I are going to swap watching the kids while the other chats with the teachers.
Tonight is the big "test night" at swim lessons. We'll see if Jared's ready for Level III! I see another Level II session in our future, but he may surprise me. Actually, he may not be tall enough for Level III yet.
It's so cold - we need warm comfort food tonight. I'm thinking either enchilada bake or baked chicken & rice....

EEK! A week?!
Yikes - a whole week went by!?
We were busy!!! The sickies lingered into the week - Owen kept spiking a fever off and on and Jared's coughing was atrocious! They both were recovered by Halloween and feeling up for the Trick-or-Treat challenge.
Last week was pretty quiet with only a Cub Scouts Pack Meeting on Tuesday, and then Wednesday was busy, of course.
Jared chose a Yoda costume and Owen chose a Black Power Ranger. I'll post a pic of them in a few - they really were adorable. It was kind of nice to have the first hour of ToT be light - Owen wasn't freaked out and actually was really into getting candy. Jared took around the little orange box and collected for UNICEF for the first 2 streets. After we did our block - down to the end and back - we stopped to say hi to Brian and Owen decided that he'd had enough. He helped pass out candy bars after that. Jared and I trekked on for another 2 streets and he really brought in a lot - both coins for UNICEF and candy! Brian ran out of candy bars (and I'd bought 150!) at 7:15 so he and Owen were chilling watching TV when Jared and I got home.
We had a really fun time this weekend. Saturday we went over to Grammie and Grandpa ("with the moustache like this") B's for "a big pile of leaves" and lunch. The boys had a BLAST in the leaves and I took almost 200 pictures. Check out the slideshow of my favorite 20 at onetruemedia. After the leaf raking project, my mom and I took the boys to Wendy's/Tim Horton's for lunch and a donut and then headed over to REI. I needed a water bottle for the pool - I keep leaving my work one at work. The boys also scored new Keens and Owen got some slippers for school.
We watched the uncomfortably close UM/MSU game - whew! I ran out for Pizza Hut at halftime and that hit the spot quite nicely. :) A good outcome from the game, and the boys were decently behaved. They both crashed on the way home.
Sunday my cold hit me full-force, so we laid pretty low. Brian had class again, so the kids and I hung out, uploaded pictures, played school, and then headed up to Busch's. We decided on baked enchiladas for dinner, but Brian came home craving hamburgers on the grill, so I ran back up for meat. They turned out really yummy - and baked cheesy potatoes made a nice fall alternative to potato salad!
Another busy week ahead - I'm going to try to get on here more! I'll post the H'ween pic in a minute.
