Vacation Flies By!
Why do vacation weeks go by so fast?! I had this week off. After a busy weekend of recital-ing, Father's Day-ing, and Birthday Partying, I was ready for some relaxing!
Owen had Safety Time this week - four days, 9-11:30, a bunch of Kindergarteners learning to dial 911, Stop-Drop-and-Roll, and wear bike helmets. I'll give it this - it got us up and out of the house every day!
Monday, we met Grammie after Safety Time and spent a very relaxing day playing Rummikub, lunching at DQ, playing at "green pole park", and chatting. Very nice way to start off our vacation. The kids rounded out the evening with some time on the swingset while Mommie shopped at the Tastefully Simple party.
Tuesday, after Safety Time we headed to McD's for lunch with the neighbors. That's always exciting with the six kids between us - but the kids love it. After a couple of hours of afternoon quiet time, the kids were back outside racing around, getting dirty, and in general having a blast.
Wednesday...what did we do Wednesday after Safety Time? Not much.
Thursday was Safety Time graduation. Seriously? Graduation from a four-day stint? Whatever. It was unbelievably hot, so we lunched in the house, and then did showers and got ready to hit the mall. We met Kristy at JCP for some belated Mother's Day pix of all four kids. We got *the* shot - pretty good considering a certain two little boys were less than cooperative!
Today there was no Safety Time. We.did.nothing. N-O-T-H-I-N-G. It was heavenly. I finally took a shower around 4:00 and put comfy clothes back on. We did venture out after dinner for DQ - kids in PJ's so we hit the drive-thru.
A quiet weekend planned...we still need a trip to Costco and Target...we'll visit with good friends on Sunday night. Maybe we'll try to take in the Balloon Fest tomorrow evening if we can find some buddies interested in going.

I love summer
Summer vacation is the best. The kids are loving running around exploring with friends - games of kickball, street hockey, tag...bonfires...sprinklers...sleeping in...popsicles on the back steps. They love it all.
They have day camp this week at Owen's school. This week's theme is Cooking. They made meatballs and pizza today. Tomorrow is Mexican - yum! And they'll pick strawberries on Wednesday. So far they love it.
I'm on vacation next week and can't WAIT! I can really use a break. Owen has Safety Time in the mornings, and we'll make some plans to hang out in the afternoons. Did I mention that I can't wait?!
