I do NOT have a happy camper, despite what his t-shirt says. Jared had a bit of a rough time at day camp yesterday. I gather from him that it all stems from some forgotten shoes at the pool. Poor guy was in tears at drop-off this morning. :(

Workin' for the weekend...
Not sure why that popped into my head "everybody's workin' for the weekend...." Freaky.
Monday blahs are here - full force!
We had a great weekend - lots of one-on-one with Owen on Friday and Saturday. We picked up Jared from grandma camp on Saturday and he was whipped!
Sunday was a lazy day in our household beginning with Mommie sleeping in until 11!! After a 3-hour trek to Meijer, the kids needed some good old fashioned running around. We herded them outside and convinced Jared to remove the training wheels from his bike.
Brian ran along behind him for about 50 feet and he was off on his own! In the span of less than 90 minutes he was starting off, riding, turning, and even stopping with control! It's time to go bike shopping!
The evening ended with Owen pooping in his bed and on his floor.

Hootin'
Owen and I went with a friend to downtown Pinckney last night for "Hootin' in the Park". Lots of fun to see people walking about - we missed the beginning and only caught the last musicians - a small band that played a lot of traditional "concert" type songs - we were hoping for something a bit more upbeat - we'll need to get there earlier next time.
Owen had a blast banging around the playground. He slid the fireman's pole on his own! He fell trying that earlier this spring, so I was glad that he started doing it again - most importantly so that he isn't screaming for help every 2 seconds!
Jared sent me a text from up north last night - he says that "otsego beach is awesome" - I agree. I miss the little bugger.

Six More Weeks...
School starts in six weeks! I guess it's technically 5 weeks and 6 days, but the first full day is in exactly six weeks.
First grade? Jared is so excited. He's excited to have lunch in the cafeteria and maybe even buy lunch (I'm sure that we'll do that MORE than a few times as I scramble to make his lunch each morning). He misses seeing his friends every day - even the neighbor kids just across the street or down a few houses! Everyone is so busy!
And Owen will go all day to preschool this year. He gets excited every time we pass LOTWA. He gets all pumped up "there's my school!" He will have to bring a lunch every day, so I guess I'll be packing at least one bag every day!
It's weird having Jared gone so much this summer. He was at Grandma L's all last week, and he left with Grammie and Grandpa B on Tuesday. He loves to be on the GO, so spending time with Grammie is good - he was all excited yesterday to tell me about their day - "we ran errands - we went to Hiller's, and CVS, and then to the bank!" Top the day off with a trip out to Crate & Barrel at Somerset and he was a happy guy.
Brian has a meeting tonight, so I'm trying to think of something fun for he and I to do together. I had originally planned on either the water skiing show in Whitmore Lake or the Hootin' In The Park in Pinckney, but it looks like rain. Maybe we'll just head up to Brighton to the McD's with the playground - he'll be beside himself.

Is this appropriate?
It's Owen's favorite line "is this appropriate?" It's sister comment is "grandpa, this is not appropriate". It typically refers to something on TV, but sometimes he actually means his behavior, in which case I die of shock. :)
Six more weeks and my baby starts preschool! Hopefully he can learn something. :) Self control, patience, logic & reasoning, discipline - sheesh, it's Montessori, not miliary school! I need to pick up a little backpack for him - I love the cute little ones that I saw at Baby Gap. Aren't they cute? And a matching little lunchbox?
I finished Deathly Hallows - it took me about 8 hours. Brian was such a nice guy - he went out and bought it for me Saturday morning. I tried to stay up Friday night to go to Meijer at midnight, but I was too exhausted. So I woke up and there it was Saturday morning! Too bad I had to get ready to head to the 2007 Air Show at Selfridge.
The kids enjoyed the air show. I took lots of pix - I left my camera at home so borrowed Dad's film camera. It worked great, but now I need to actually go get the film developed! I hope that I got at least a layout's worth!
That's what it's about, right? The scrapbook layout? All of my pictures lately are taken with the layout in mind. Now if I could actually get the time to scrap....

Finally...it's the weekend
This has been a long and busy week! Even with no kids around! I'm glad that Barb is coming back on Monday!
I can't wait to see Jared tonight - a week is an awfully long time. He sounds like he's been having a blast at Grandma's house. He had a sleepover at his cousins' house yesterday. We'll pick up Owen on our way out there tonight.
Harry Potter was very good. We met at Panera and got a chance to hang out together (which NEVER happens). Afterwards we decided that we'll do this for the next 2 movies also. I can't believe how expensive going to the movies has gotten! Adult tickets were $8.50 and a popcorn and icee were $8!! Sheesh!
I'm really irritated that I had to replace my new work sandals already. The bottoms just totally fell apart - I can see right into the middle and I can totally see why they broke - there is nothing to them! I found a cute pair on sale today that I like OK, but not as much. Oh well, sandals weather is quickly coming to an end. :(

Buy Michigan
I found this neat little website Absolute Michigan that has all of this information about things to do in Michigan, products to buy, places to get fresh produce, etc. With our economy doing so poorly, I like the idea of helping out the locals.
Day 2 of "no kids" - woo hoo! I dropped Owen off at Grammie Camp last night and Jared is still at Grandma Camp. I was able to get my nails done and hang out playing Euchre last night - very nice.
Tonight is IT! Justin, Sarah, and I are going to see Harry Potter! I can't wait. And Book 7 comes out tomorrow night! I think that I'll visit the local Meijer in Washington Twp at midnight. And then read as much as I can.
We're taking the boys to the Airshow at Selfridge ANGB. Hopefully it isn't too hot standing out watching the planes. The boys seem pretty excited - I'm hoping that I get some neat pictures.
I'm still delinquent on getting the birthday and vacation pictures uploaded - patience....

Is it Friday yet?
Wow this week is really dragging! It's only Tuesday?! Seriously?!
Brian had training last night, so Owen and I hung out together. It's weird with Jared not home! My friend came over to observe Owen for a class - yikes! Hopefully he wasn't too much material for her! He did play rather nicely showing her all of his matchbox cars, helicopters, and Little People.
I actually get to go out with grown-ups tonight! Rachel is moving to NC next week so we're sending her off with drinks at Damon's. Owen will hang out with Stacey and Alex which thrills him. Hopefully Stacey isn't too overwhelmed by my wild child three-year-old.
Oh! I started uploading pictures from Traverse City and Jared's Birthday last night - hopefully I'll post a slideshow soon!

He's SIX
My baby turned six yesterday - as Brian said, that's 1/3 of his life living at home with us. Wow.
Jared had a great day. He woke up to presents from us and from Owen - a Playmobil pirate ship and some Star Wars guys. He chose a wonderful breakfast of Fruity Pebbles - ack.
He had a party with his friends at the Castaway Cafe in Howell, MI. What a neat place! I highly recommend them for kids' parties. They do all of the set-up and clean-up and the food was on the higher side of reasonable, but good.
We came home to celebrate his birthday with the family - lots of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. We all had a great time and he got some very nice presents - he was a little subdued during the present opening - maybe overtired? He had trouble sleeping on Saturday night. He received some legos, books, pirate "stuff", and a very nice homework desk for his room. Grandpa L makes each of the grandkids a desk when they turn six - for homework in first grade.
Six years old...eek. He's off at Grandma Camp this week and I miss the little bugger already. Owen is LOVING being an only child - he promptly claimed his spot right in the middle of mommie and daddy last night - and slept perpendicular all night. I need more coffee.

Busy...busy...busy
It's mind boggling how busy things can get! I mean, it's summer vacation - what happened to just lounging on the patio with a book while the kids run in the sprinkler? HA!
This week my boss left for an 11 day vacation to Europe, which doubles my juggling act at work. Luckily, our major huge project went out the door last month - but it's even more juggling because we've now taken on additional client work.
Brian's busy fire department weeks are coming up - meetings two nights and on-call one night - why do they cram it all into the last two weeks of the month? Jared is headed to Grandma Camp next week. Maybe I can fanagle a sleepover for Owen so that I can go see Harry Potter!
I'm not sure why I'm on the computer - I should be working, but my VPN connection conked and I'm waiting to hear back from the ISS guys. The house is a disaster, we have no groceries, my nails need filled, and I'm still in my PJ's!!! Time to get moving!

One Mommie!
So I've gotten some flak about the title of the blog. I'm the mommie - one mommie is in love. So my apostrophe is right!
I am in love - I'm in love with those two little munchkins called Jared and Owen. I'm in love with their daddy. (Daddy doesn't get the special "ie" ending)
Those little boys are just scrumptious - I could eat them up! They weren't interested in bedtime last night. Could it be the Mountain Dew with the late dinner at DQ? Possibly.... They were just being silly and wanted to snuggle in our bed. How do you say no to those two little cuties, fresh from the tub, begging to snuggle?!
I will be adding some pictures and other fun stuff as I figure out this site - in my spare time, right?
I started a system this year as many know. I have a schedule of when I do specific things - stuff around the house. Today is washing the sheets. So Owen was peeved that I was stripping his bed this morning - "why are you taking my sheets?!" I explained that I was washing them to keep his bed nice and clean and he seemed OK with that. He's so used to me stripping his bed in anger after he's wet it yet AGAIN that he was confused. I'm so proud of him - he's been dry for 8 night straight now!

Hooray for Pink!
Hooray for PINK! Finally I get to make something pink! Having two boys, my world is all about blue - blue, green, occasionally red. Since this site is for ME - it's PINK! :)
