Whew - long week back to work after break. I'm exhausted! I guess it doesn't help that I stay up watching ER until 11 and then get up at 5:30 to swim.
The kids are thoroughly obsessed with Webkinz. Jared loves to login and see "who's playing" so that he can invite them over, play games, etc. He has a blast sending mail and gifts, too. Owen isn't so into the games...but he LOVES to give his buddies a "tubby." Yep, you can buy a tub from the W-Shop and actually give them a bath - it's so cute.
And *I* love playing the games! Tile Towers is my favorite, but I earn Owen lots of KinzCash playing all sorts of games - it's a very addicting habit that I need to curb. I've wasted hours on that stinkin' website!

Happy New Year!
I'm only a *few* days late....
The sickies in our house are finally recovered - I think. Jared looked a little worn out this morning, but that may have been the early wake-up call after two lazy weeks. My 5:30 AM alarm was painful - but it felt great to get back in the pool after almost THREE weeks of nothing! OMG! I was sick, then it was Christmas, then Owen was sick, then Brian, then me, then I was recovering, then we had stuff to do after being house-bound for two weeks! Eek! At least having the stomach flu, I didn't backslide any on weightloss! :)
So school started today without Owen. :( Poor kid's eczema is just awful right now, so he spent the day with Brooke and we made a noon trip to the pediatrician. He gave us a mild steroid to try to calm things down. He did say that it looks more like a contact dermatitis and that he should be wearing long sleeves & pants - that it looks almost like rugburn. Makes sense - the kid has been crawling around in various costumes, halves of pj's, etc.

It's Over
Wow...Christmas is over? Already? I'm bummed that I was so sick the week before - I feel like I was in a fog.
We all had a great Christmas. I ended up baking a few batches of cookies - Pretzel Rolos, Peanut Butter Surprise, Danish Shortbread, and Gingerbread Men.
We celebrated with the Brundage family on Christmas Eve with dinner at Justin & Kristy's. It was nice to have everyone together. The kids had fun running around with their cousins.
As you can see from our photos, we also visited the big guy in red on Christmas Eve. Nothing like last minute - we made it through the line with 15 minutes to spare. The mall was surprisingly NOT that crowded - who knew?
Christmas Day was fun all around - the kids tore through their gifts on Christmas morning. Santa was very generous to them both! I can't think of anything that wasn't a big hit with them. Brian and I exchanged and I think that we were both pretty spoiled - maybe me a little more than him. :)
We spent Christmas afternoon/evening at Casa Brundage with Grammie and Grandpa. All was fun and festive over there until Owen puked all over the sunroom carpet. Boo. He perked right up after that and we were able to make the trek to Casa Lampton with no trouble.
He upchucked again right as we got to their house, so it appears that some sort of virus invaded our Christmas. It didn't stop him from tearing into gifts again on Wednesday, though. We spent the afternoon with the Lampton clan and again had a fun time, good food, and lots of laughs.
Perhaps the best present was the announcement from Kevin & Delena that a young niece or nephew is due to arrive next summer! How exciting!
Back at the homestead the sickness bug is invading - Brian started with the upset stomach and now strep throat. Nice vacation? Blah.
I'll end with a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my little sis, Sarah. Hope your day is fanta-bulous!

The Holiday Prep Countdown
I'm SO not ready for Christmas! I've been sick all week and just didn't have the energy for anything! I even skipped swimming twice this week! Ack! Now I'm relegated to the treadmill until school starts again in January - I need some new DVDs.
So I need to finish up my shopping. I'll knock that out at lunchtime today with a trip to the little strip mall. I'm so close to being done!
Then the wrapping...ugh. The wrapping. Blah. With the kids refusing to go to bed at night, I'm looking at some loooooooonnngggg evenings.
The baking - eek! I said I wasn't baking, but we need a few cookies for Santa! I'm going to do gingerbread men for sure - I got a recipe for some low-fat ones from a friend, so we'll do those this weekend. I also got stuff for the pretzel rolo things - easy-peazy. I really want to do a batch of the peanut butter surprises - yum. And it isn't Christmas without cut-outs! OK - someone stop me!!!!!!!!!!!
We had an exciting week. Monday was a snow day. Tuesday Owen was sent home from school for puking at lunchtime (he was fine the rest of the day). Wednesday we took Owen to Urgent Care - he and Jared were fooling around and he got his foot stuck in the treadmill. They KNOW they aren't supposed to play on there, and it was unplugged and everything. But apparently they can still make the belt move? Anyway - no fracture, just a nice scrape and a bruise.
Jared's first indoor soccer game is tomorrow - why start the season the day after school lets out? Crazy.
So I need to finish up my shopping. I'll knock that out at lunchtime today with a trip to the little strip mall. I'm so close to being done!

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas...
Jared is obsessed with this song. We sing it over and over and over.... Argh! We must look like quite the pair trolling through Kohl's singing carols. :)
Snow Day today! No school for the munchkins. They're happily playing at Brooke's for the day - they were so excited when they woke up this morning and found out.
I'm going to finish up the last few pieces of shopping today and tomorrow - and then it's time to WRAP everything! Good grief, why do I let it go to the end?
