The boys wore their full winter gear today. Both were in winter coats, hats, and mittens. (No snow pants yet, thank goodness!) And their "new winter boots that aren't boots" as Owen says. They both got new Keens for this winter and man, are they adorable!!! I should've taken a picture of them in their winter gear b/c they both looked so dang cute all bundled up.
Owen has Thursday and Friday off this week for parent-teacher conferences. I can't WAIT to hear what Miss. Donna has to say about our little Oobi. Marla and I are going to swap watching the kids while the other chats with the teachers.
Tonight is the big "test night" at swim lessons. We'll see if Jared's ready for Level III! I see another Level II session in our future, but he may surprise me. Actually, he may not be tall enough for Level III yet.
It's so cold - we need warm comfort food tonight. I'm thinking either enchilada bake or baked chicken & rice....

EEK! A week?!
Yikes - a whole week went by!?
We were busy!!! The sickies lingered into the week - Owen kept spiking a fever off and on and Jared's coughing was atrocious! They both were recovered by Halloween and feeling up for the Trick-or-Treat challenge.
Last week was pretty quiet with only a Cub Scouts Pack Meeting on Tuesday, and then Wednesday was busy, of course.
Jared chose a Yoda costume and Owen chose a Black Power Ranger. I'll post a pic of them in a few - they really were adorable. It was kind of nice to have the first hour of ToT be light - Owen wasn't freaked out and actually was really into getting candy. Jared took around the little orange box and collected for UNICEF for the first 2 streets. After we did our block - down to the end and back - we stopped to say hi to Brian and Owen decided that he'd had enough. He helped pass out candy bars after that. Jared and I trekked on for another 2 streets and he really brought in a lot - both coins for UNICEF and candy! Brian ran out of candy bars (and I'd bought 150!) at 7:15 so he and Owen were chilling watching TV when Jared and I got home.
We had a really fun time this weekend. Saturday we went over to Grammie and Grandpa ("with the moustache like this") B's for "a big pile of leaves" and lunch. The boys had a BLAST in the leaves and I took almost 200 pictures. Check out the slideshow of my favorite 20 at onetruemedia. After the leaf raking project, my mom and I took the boys to Wendy's/Tim Horton's for lunch and a donut and then headed over to REI. I needed a water bottle for the pool - I keep leaving my work one at work. The boys also scored new Keens and Owen got some slippers for school.
We watched the uncomfortably close UM/MSU game - whew! I ran out for Pizza Hut at halftime and that hit the spot quite nicely. :) A good outcome from the game, and the boys were decently behaved. They both crashed on the way home.
Sunday my cold hit me full-force, so we laid pretty low. Brian had class again, so the kids and I hung out, uploaded pictures, played school, and then headed up to Busch's. We decided on baked enchiladas for dinner, but Brian came home craving hamburgers on the grill, so I ran back up for meat. They turned out really yummy - and baked cheesy potatoes made a nice fall alternative to potato salad!
Another busy week ahead - I'm going to try to get on here more! I'll post the H'ween pic in a minute.

Soup's On!
I made this yummy Taco Soup last night for dinner. I got the recipe from a friend - and it's low/no fat and mighty tasty! It was really easy, too. The boys wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole, but Brian and I liked it - I had plenty of leftovers, too!
Jared stayed home from school yesterday with strep. :( Poor kid had a 103 fever and a sore throat on Monday, so we headed up to the new urgent care. In and out in 25 minutes with a script for Amoxicillin. He still was running 102 Tuesday morning, so he stayed home. Luckily I was already planning to work at home so I had all of my stuff. He had a pretty good day - did a few puzzles, watched cartoons, played with his Star Wars guys.
The kids are excited for Halloween next week. I'm not sure that Owen gets the whole Trick-or-Treat concept, but he's excited to wear his black Power Ranger costume. Jared's Yoda is adorable. They have parties at school - Owen has TWO! And then they're going to a party with Aunt Sarah on Wednesday afternoon. We'll do something quick and easy for dinner, that night.
It's definitely fall here - mid-50's and gloomy. Jared had a field trip to the park today. He dressed warmly (I made him take a hat & gloves). They also had to bring a white t-shirt to paint with leaves. I bet that'll turn out cute!
Well, time to go change the laundry - it's Wednesday which is "sheets day" but I had to completely strip our bed because Owen peed in it. Grrrr.

Fire Drill Monday
Owen woke up bouncing out of his skin this morning. "Today the fire truck comes!" Well, and the fire fighter, too. He insisted on wearing a fire truck t-shirt today and his red crocs. He didn't ask if he could bring a helmet again so I didn't mention it.
I think he'll get to see the fire truck twice - since he stays for morning and afternoon? Maybe he'll be napping for the afternoon one.
Jared launched his rocket yesterday with Cub Scouts. It was a beautiful day for rocket launching, though windy for sure. A few went onto the school roof and one went all the way OVER the school (though, that was one that broke into two pieces, so the parachute and nose went that far). The boys had fun and I got some fun pictures.
Soccer ends this week. Hopefully it isn't too bitterly cold on Saturday morning for our 9 AM game. Egads! My life becomes so much more sane after this twice a week soccer ends. We'll be down to just Cub Scouts 3 Tuesdays a month and swim lessons one evening.
Speaking of Cub Scouts - I'm in charge of planning November. The theme is "Indian Nations." I'm thinking a trip to the Museum of Natural History in Ann Arbor for the Go-See-It and building our totem pole for craft/activity. Oh, and we'll make drums one week, too. Fun times!
