Ice cream break at the Liberty Tree Tavern
Thursday - we flew out Thursday afternoon. My dad took us to the airport and we made it through security OK. Biggest bump here was the $50 charge for our suitcase being over the 50 pound limit. Gak! We got into Orlando, got on the Magical Express, and got to our hotel by 5:30'ish. We got our carry-on luggage put away, hung up the garmet bag clothes (the boys' wedding outfits) and went to dinner at our hotel.
YUM! The Maya Grill, at our hotel, was YUM! We had the dining plan, so Brian and I ordered nice steaks, had dessert. The kids barely ate, but that's not unusual.
We walked around the resort, saw the pool, and got to bed early. Our luggage arrived around 9.
Friday - we were up bright and early and headed to the Magic Kingdom. The kids were in awe when we walked in and saw the characters on Main Street and the castle. I actually got a little teary. :)
We went straight to Fantasyland and rode Winnie the Pooh. When we got off, we were met by a crew from the Year of a Million Dreams who gave us passes to "The Ultimate Character Meet and Greet" - which was a small group meeting with 16 characters, free autograph books, and pictures.
We did the rest of Fantasyland - Dumbo, Peter Pan, Mickey's Philharmonic, etc. Then we did Pirates of the Caribbean, etc. The boys loved it all - though...Owen didn't "get" that even though you go into a store at the end of every ride, you don't always get something!
We had a late lunch at the Liberty Tree Tavern which was good. We rounded out the afternoon with a ride on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Owen was NOT impressed) and the Haunted Mansion.
Our character meeting was around 5 PM and we walked in with about 40-50 other people and got to meet and get pix with two groups of characters - "the princesses" which were Belle, Cinderella, Aurora, and Snow White and their associated men. And the "classic" characters - Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, Dale. The kids got autograph books already filled out by these characters, family pix with each group, individual pix, they got to dance and hang out with the characters, etc. Really fun.
We did dinner at our hotel in the food court which was a fun experience - and everyone got to choose their own thing.

Shopping and Packing
Apologies to Sarah and Angie - you guys still love me. :)
Sarah - Hood Doll is naked because her little nightgown disintegrated. She needs to get a good bath and a new outfit.
Angie - the boys have a little less than a month left, I think? Owen is done the 5th of June and I think Jared goes until the 11th. By the 11th they're done with Scouts, soccer, and school! Only swim lessons which I can handle! When do your boys get out? Or are they already done?
I've been shopping and packing up a storm! I picked up my dress for the wedding last week, and mom & dad are going to drive it to SC so that I don't have to check it. I have our rental car reserved for the drive to SC. I printed out directions.
I've been shopping for t-shirts and shorts - it's hard to find what I'm looking for! Seriously, shorts this year are either uber long, to your knees, or they're short short SHORT! Where's in between?!
The boys are more than set with clothes. Good grief, I need to do a load for each of them of their new stuff. (I'm exaggerating...a little)
Bus will be here shortly - time to make some lunches!

Hood Doll
Everyone, meet "Hood Doll". She's been around a while...can ya tell?!? I unearthed her while purging for the garage sale. She was so-dubbed "Hood Doll" because...well, of COURSE it was because her little nightgown had...A HOOD! :)
(No, I didn't try to sell her in the garage sale.)

OK, the blog is dying a slow and painful death. I'll try harder...now that May is almost over. Well, to me it's almost over - we leave in 3 days for Florida and Hilton Head!
You all can thank Eileen for motivating me to post. I'd say that she shamed me into it, but that wouldn't be true. I just can't let her beat me with three posts in a row! :)
I've been trying to figure out how to pack a family of four for a ten-day vacation. Two large suitcases? Four small ones? I mean, we only have to get them from the drop-off to the airline counter, then Disney takes over. And then pick them up off the conveyor and get them into the in-laws' car. Not too bad.
And how much do we *really* need? Clean shorts every day? Every other day? For the kids? How much sunscreen should we have for the four of us for that long? How many swimsuits each?
And do we pack snacks for the plane...Disney...the ride to Hilton Head...the wedding? That's a LOT of snacks!
And of course it's all hitting the fan at work this week. Egads I should be working instead of saying HI to ... Dena...Dad...Mom.... Maybe Eileen if she reads my comments and stops by. Not that I'd EVER know because NONE of you ever leaves comments (OK, Dena, you often leave me fun little gems - thanks).
