The Good Old Days

Dad took this when I was about...two years old? Back when birthdays were exciting.

I remember a particularly crazy birthday...1984...sleepover with lots of giggling and dancing...donuts the next morning (coldest day in history or some such statistic). And wasn't that the year that Nessa joined the family? I'll post a photo of her tomorrow. :)

Smoothies!

Why don't I make smoothies more often!?! I dug out the little single-sized blender today and made a mixed berry smoothie for myself. It was so good! I suppose a frozen breakfast in the winter is a little odd...but I have coffee, too! :)

Owen's home sick today after yesterday's fever - and he was up all night coughing. Hopefully he feels better soon!

A Not-So-Fantastic Ending to our 3-Day Weekend

Nice and shiny! No cavities!

Yes...we had a fantastic visit to Dr. Bill. No cavities, good brushing skills for both. We had a yummy lunch at Taco Bell with Grammie and Auntie Sarah. We browsed Dick's Sporting Goods and Pier 1. We were pulling out of Pier 1...20 minutes away from walking into Princess and the Frog...and Owen pukes all over. He's got a wicked nasty cold, and it wasn't "real" barf...mostly he gagged himself coughing so hard.

He and I skipped the movie...he napped while I chatted with Dad.

We stopped at Urgent Care on the way home...double ear infection, red swollen throat, fever. He's on amoxicillin and Rondec - looks like a 4-day weekend!

Start the day off right

I made myself get up and out to walk first thing this morning...walking outside is infinitely preferred to the treadmill (a.k.a. the most boring hour ever). It wasn't the prettiest day, but it wasn't windy or particularly cold. Now I need to figure out how to get a playlist onto my Nano, which is too small for all of my music. I do not like the "random" mix that iTunes chose for me!

Who Doesn't Love a 3-day weekend?!

I'm so excited that we have a 3-day weekend!!! No making lunches on Monday!

Though...what was I thinking scheduling dentist appointments for Monday?

Walking walking walking...

in the 3-Day!!! Seven months from TODAY - we'll be 40 miles into the 2010 Michigan 3-Day for the Cure...we'll be exhausted (hopefully not too hot)...we'll be looking forward to the closing ceremony...we'll be a little sad that it's almost over.

I can't wait!!!! I'm so excited for this year's walk. Last year was amazing - an experience I'll never forget - but I'll be so much better prepared this year - my feet are already thanking me (well, the left more than the right...the right is still bitter about the lost toenail). :)

Blueberry Muffins!

I'm on a muffin kick - and these Blueberry Muffins (from scratch!) are the best! I have to settle for frozen blueberries lately, but they're OK.

I am a *little* ticked off that I got up early to bake these, but no one wanted to wait around to eat them! The kids said "EW" and Brian couldn't spare the extra 5 minutes. Phooey on them.
