Tea Time

Both of my boys love to drink hot tea. From a young age, they used to grab Grammie's lukewarm tea cup and drink the last few sips. Since I got a beautiful new tea kettle for Christmas...

The boys ask for tea constantly!!!  But Owen does not like the sound of the whistling tea kettle.

This morning, both were happy as clams with their mugs of tea and cinnamon toast.

I've finally converted them to drinking it plain - just like Mommie likes it!  :)

Little Owen is 7...seven!!!  I can't believe that this little dude has grown to be such a funny little kid!

Owen is, as detailed below, obsessed with hockey.  He loves the Power Rangers and Lightning McQueen (cannot WAIT for Cars 2 this summer) but has been known to settle down to watch The Lion King or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, still.

We started off the birthday celebration with one present - a PSP game from his brother.  Look how sweetly Jared is helping him play the new game.  Awwww....

And what birthday would be complete without birthday cinnamon rolls for breakfast?!

We took 6 dozen cupcakes to school today - 3 dozen vanilla for Owen's class and 3 dozen chocolate for Jared's class (with a summer birthday, he gets to choose when to bring in a treat).  After school, we will finish up the present opening and head to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner.  Happy Birthday, Owen!

hockey obsession

Little Owen has a hockey obsession...I'm not sure that it's healthy.  But we feed it anyways by suggesting that Aunt Sarah and Uncle D buy a hockey net to practice his form.

Another way in which we feed his obsession...MSU vs UM in The Big Chill - talk about fair-weather fan...the kid changed his jersey halfway through the game!  GO BLUE!

And who doesn't love a maize and blue zamboni?!

But I think the highlight of this young hockey fan's life might just be the trip to see his beloved Boston Bruins with his buddy, Brendan.  The kid still talks about that day all the time.  :)

This year both boys are swimming for the local swim team.  It's Jared's 3rd session on the team and Owen's first.  Both have really enjoyed it so far!

Because it's Owen's first year, he has to wait to swim in a meet until he can swim an entire 25 M without stopping or grabbing onto the side.  But he sure does look cute in his goggles!!

Jared is an old pro at swimming in meets now - and the meets are where it's all at.  It's all about the ribbons!  Because of scheduling and Mommie's health issues, we've only just made it to our first meet of the season.  And Jared's 200 M free relay took heat winner!

I don't know if we'll be able to swim the Spring session, but we'll be signing up for the Summer for sure!



Nelly

I've driven my new car three times.  And, all three times, the same song is playing on the radio.  That can't possibly be a coincidence...so we will refer to the new car from now on as Nelly.  And Nelly is a boy.
