swim team kids
This year both boys are swimming for the local swim team. It's Jared's 3rd session on the team and Owen's first. Both have really enjoyed it so far!
Because it's Owen's first year, he has to wait to swim in a meet until he can swim an entire 25 M without stopping or grabbing onto the side. But he sure does look cute in his goggles!!
I don't know if we'll be able to swim the Spring session, but we'll be signing up for the Summer for sure!

Jared is an old pro at swimming in meets now - and the meets are where it's all at. It's all about the ribbons! Because of scheduling and Mommie's health issues, we've only just made it to our first meet of the season. And Jared's 200 M free relay took heat winner!

Nelly
I've driven my new car three times. And, all three times, the same song is playing on the radio. That can't possibly be a coincidence...so we will refer to the new car from now on as Nelly. And Nelly is a boy.

Polar Plunge
We took the kids to watch some of the Polar Plunge at Zukey on Sunday.
Standing on the ice waiting to see people jump into Zukey Lake...interesting way to spend the afternoon. There were definitely some fun characters to see.
The cold sent us inside in search of hot chocolate and coffee (and beers, of course) - a fine afternoon with good friends. (OK, so maybe the loud CRACK as we were standing in the middle of the lake sent us to shore rather quickly)

glasses!
Jared got glasses! We picked them up this morning, and so far he loves them! He just needs them for school - to see the board - and for going to movies. We have had several discussions about how we wear them in the classroom, take them off for recess and gym, and he doesn't need them at home.
We were not surprised by this development, all of his grandmas and grandpas have glasses, his aunts and uncles all wear glasses, and his older cousins have glasses. Mommie got glasses in 5th grade...only hope was that he got Daddy's eyes - Daddy is stil 20/20 uncorrected. Maybe Owen got that vision gene. :) And we can still hope that we get off easily on the orthodontics, right?!
